Sarvanga Meditation
The gift of concentration
Is the spaciousness that surrounds it.
Focus Illuminates immensity.
—The Radiance Sutras
Modern living poses significant challenges to sustained happiness and fulfillment. Social media, information overload, the increased demands of our careers and social isolation (loneliness is on the rise, according to the Surgeons General) has led to a crisis of stress, burnout, anxiety and depression. It’s no wonder everyone is honking their horns and bickering on Facebook.
In our hyperactive, stress-filled lives, meditation offers an opportunity to quiet the incessant chatter of our thoughts, see our circumstances more clearly, and respond rather than react to life. This easy-to-learn method to meditation teaches the mind to approach greater mental stillness and emotional steadiness. By learning to observe our mind without getting caught up in its stories, anxieties and stresses, we begin to have the distinct experience we are not our thoughts; we are the awareness perceiving them.
I bow to my teachers…
After two invasive lung surgeries, I came to yoga as a way to heal. Then, in 2007, I began to teach, on fire to share the benefits of this practice with others.
As a GOYA-ECYT-500, YA-ERYT-500, I offer skilled guidance in a therapeutic and individualized approach to yoga asana, pranayama, meditation and yoga nidra in the Sri Vidya tradition, as informed by my ongoing studies with my primary teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker, founder of Tantra Yoga Alchemy/ParaYoga.
I was first introduced to hatha yoga from the perspective of Tantra — the skillful use of energetics for personal evolution — through training in Embodying the Flow, Mandala of Asanas and Prana Mandala Vinyasa (200 hours) with Shiva Rea, founder of Prana Vinyasa. I trained in alignment-based asana, pranayama, meditation and anatomy (200 hours) with Claudia Micco and Beth Shaw.
Offerings
Friend on the Path
In 2014, I ceased offering group instruction in a public setting (studios, gyms) to focus first and foremost on being an exceptional practitioner. I remain available as a mitra along the path through private guidance.
Private
I’m available for private instruction for groups and individuals. For individuals, I offer an tailored and therapeutic approach that takes into account physical and emotional needs, as well as your Ayurvedic constitution.
Corporate Wellness
I offer workplaces an opportunity to learn pranayama and meditation skills to manage burnout and stress. Ayurvedic assessments are used to uncover each participants needs and offer tailored guidance.
